IDC: Apple App Store becoming a real mess
ANALYSTS at IDC say Apple’s App Store is heading for a meltdown with too much stock for any sane person to navigate – assuming of course that there is such a thing as a sane Apple fanboy.

The IDC beancounters forecast that the App Store will hold soon a quarter of a million Iphone and Ipod Touch applications, tripling current levels by the end of 2010. IDC predicts the annual growth rate will be about 900 percent. However this will cause a fair few problems for Apple. Not only do you have to find an application that you want in a pile of 250,000, you also have to find time to play with the thing.
The only thing you can do really is try to read reviews on the tiny Iphone screen. How will it be possible to sort out the dross from the good stuff?
In the computer world this is not usually considered a problem. PC users are used to tapping in keywords to Google searches, reading reviews and working out what they want.
However Apple has made a name for itself by telling its adoring customers what to do. Its Apple fanboys might see a huge catalogue of files and go into overload.
Our prediction is that Apple will have to come up with a new way of navigating through its ever growing pile of Apps and work out a good way of helping users find the good ones.
Having a large resource base is usually considered a good thing, however if it gets as bad as IDC forecasts then the overwhelming number of competing choices will cause Jobs’ Mob a major headache.

Gosh, if only we poor Apple fans were able to make informed decisions without being told what to do.

I’m sorry? I thought this was supposed to be a news site, all I see is a pathetically non objective opinion post that ignores many facts, shows a picture of the apple store (not the APP store you f$#@king moron) and claims that the only way to get applications is to go through each one of 250000 one by one on the iphone screen versus the reality of using itunes and categorization as well as a search function which enables one to search for a tool for a specific use by typing a description of the task you wish to perform. Oh and fanboys? Where in the hell has the inspiration for this assault against ‘fanboys’ come from, if someone enjoys an Apple product they are a fanboy? And as such deserves to be assaulted by an opinionated fool such as yourself? Get off the internet

Someone gave me an iPod Touch last Christmas. I am pretty computer literate and I have no problems playing around with gadgets. This iPod Touch is the first-ever iPod unit that I got my hands on. When I decided to start using the iPod Touch, of course I had to go through iTunes first to sync some apps along with my music, photos and videos.
My first impression with the App Store? Holy s**t! The clutter! Sure, sure, I was able to find the apps that I ‘wanted’, but no way in hell would I ever attempt to ‘explore’ that messy App Store in hopes of finding some ‘hidden treasures’.
No regular consumer will know his way through that mess. It’s a headache.
